Dick Move #18: Enforce Campaign Rules

Everyone claims that dictatorships are places of anarchy and lawlessness.  On the contrary, they're places of order and rules.  But they're my rules, not yours.

Yet another reason it's great to be a dictator: your society is a patchwork of rules, frameworks, policies, and procedures, and they all work in your advantage.

Wouldn't you say, Mr. Chavez?  Got to hand it to the guy, he knows how to make you play by the rules.  So when a local TV chain denounced him for illegally using state funds to finance his re-election campaign, he simply had them shut down.  Because after all, the campaign rules clearly state you can't run attack ads on information that is "baseless."    Man, I love rules.  How does this move make you feel, Mr. Chavez?  Yes, that's right: very smiley.
